Net Terminal Tax Increase

Dear Valued Establishment Owner,

Springfield lawmakers are in the process of enacting a state budget with the inclusion of a tax increase on VGT Net Terminal Income (raising the tax from 34%-35%). Although seemingly small, this 1% increase is nevertheless impactful and serves as a hit to participants in the VGT industry (both Establishments and Terminal Operators) at a crucial time. We anticipate that the Governor will promptly sign the Bill into law, and that the tax will officially go into effect on July 1st, 2024. Assuming the Governor signs the Bill, you will see the effects of this increase on commissions and payouts going-forward.

Although this news is disappointing, our leadership team is steadfast in our push to expand gaming opportunities and investments for our customers throughout Illinois. We believe that this relatively minor fiscal hit could lead to significant positive changes in our industry in the months to come. While the current Bill does not contain any “positives” for the Video Gaming Industry, Prairie State Gaming and our trade association are working hard to obtain additional and enhanced gaming opportunities for our Establishment customers, perhaps as soon as the Fall legislative session.

We truly appreciate our business relationship, and are very committed to supporting your business in any way allowed.
